Jacksonville Section National Council of Negro Women STEAM Committee offered a free, “All Kids Can Code Workshop.” The objective of the workshop was to introduce more STEAM opportunities to school age children by engaging in conversation, offering curriculum of basic coding through play, and by leveraging the knowledge acquired by senior level facilitators to assist in transferring to others.
During the coding activity workshop, students were able to learn about sequencing, coding terminology, and various ways to create unique stories through the programming language Scratch. Students animated interactions between characters, changed their backdrops, and inserted surprise object.
Jacksonville Section – National Council of Negro Women is committed to continue to offer STEM related workshops throughout the city of Jacksonville.
